About One More Word
One More Word is a daily blog written by London photographer Michael John Oliver, where the length of the content is determined by the date on the calendar.
The Only Rule: The word count must match the day number of the year.
- January 1: 1 Word.
- July 2: 183 Words.
- December 31: 365 Words.
Each post serves as a chronological map of 2026. The entries begin as microscopic observations—single words and sentence fragments—and slowly expand into full-length essays as the year progresses.
There are no banking words. No rollovers. The output is dictated entirely by the numbers of the calendar.
Who is MJO?
I am a photographer, marketing consultant, and writer based in London. By trade, I run MJO Creative, an agency that helps brands build strategy through photography. By nature, I am obsessed with the cumulative power of daily practice.
The 2026 Trifecta
One More Word is not happening in isolation. It is the written third of a synchronised creative push for 2026, designed to test my output across three distinct mediums:
- In Text: This project (One More Word).
- In Images: We Are London, a quest to photograph a London resident from every country on earth.
- In Audio: One Year Later, an interview podcast speaking to people marking the first anniversary of a life-changing event.
The Background
I don’t rely on motivation to get things done. Between 2019 and 2022, I completed a continuous daily photography challenge, proving to myself that the only way out is through. This project is an attempt to translate that visual discipline into the written word.
Originally from New Zealand, I have spent the last 13 years making a home in London alongside my wife, Fiona, and our cat, Lottie.
